Trianel Gasspeicher Epe is offering 150,000 MWh of flexible storage volume

Two tender processes started for interruptible storage products

Aachen, Epe. Once again, Trianel Gasspeicher Epe GmbH & Co. KG (TGE) is marketing storage capacities on an interruptible basis. In two separate tender processes, a storage year product for 2016/17 and an intra-year product for 2016 are being offered with a total working gas volume of 150,000 MWh.

The storage year product 2016/17 contains three stored bundles for the period from 1 April 2016 to 1 April 2017, with a working gas volume of 25,000 MWh each. The total injection capacity is 100 MW, with 200 MW withdrawal capacity. The deadline for bids for the first tender process is 15 December 2015, 12:00 CET. The minimum price per bundle is EUR 45,000.

In the second tender process, an intra-year product with an identical configuration (injection capacity 100 MW, withdrawal capacity 200 MW) will be offered for the period from 1 January 2016 to 1 August 2016. Three stored bundles are available with a working gas volume of 25,000 MWh each. The deadline for bids is 16 December 2015, 13:00 CET. The minimum price per bundle is EUR 15,000.

“With the further developed product design combined with early marketing, the low working price and the longer duration, our aim is to offer our customers maximum planning capacity and flexibility,” explains Carsten Haack, Managing Director of TGE. “After very positive feedback from previous marketing campaigns, we anticipate that there will again be a great deal of interest.”

The sample contract, as well as a description of the stored bundles and the tender process are available on TGE’s website.

Since 2008, TGE has operated a natural gas storage facility consisting of four salt caverns in Gronau/Epe (Westphalia), with a working gas volume of
202 million cubic metres. This is one of the fastest storage facilities in Germany, which was built by Trianel in cooperation with the other shareholders – currently 16 municipal utilities and regional energy supply companies. The gas stored in Epe is enough to supply over 300,000 modern single family homes with gas for an entire year.
